Update 6 May 2020

Over the last couple of weeks, circumstances seem to have changed on a daily basis, everything in our power that can be done to keep our residents and staff healthy and safe has been implemented.

Residents are staying in their rooms for a lot of the day and are having their meals in their rooms to limit contact, which we feel is so important to contain this awful virus, we have no-one from outside visiting; relatives or outside workers such as the chiropodist ,nurses and the hairdresser, but the positive side is our amazing staff are all pulling together to provide the best care and services they can so that our residents can maintain as much normality as possible in their lives.

Our hairdressing salon has been opened, and several of our care staff are doing ‘shampoo and sets’ and washes and blow dries.

Residents are being escorted by care staff taking little trips around our beautiful grounds and making the most of the lovely spring sunshine, Andy, Tim and Jim are working extremely hard in the heat to make the area outside look stunning. We have a rota so that one or two residents at a time can sit outside under the veranda in the sun (and make use of our super new garden equipment).

Our activities team, though a little depleted, is carrying on with the help of Chris and Jane. They are providing a weekly ‘What’s On’ programme, tailored to residents being able to take part with a weekly themed event in the comfort of their room. Prizes are being awarded for competitions each week to encourage residents to take part. Our first two weeks of themed events have been ‘England and St George’ and ‘Birds’;Chair exercises keep us fit and Friday music is a favourite.

Corridor bingo is great fun and we musn't forget our Wednesday Sherry.

The kitchen staff and carers are doing a tremendous job of getting all meals prepared and taken to residents in their room.

Our team of domestics are working hard together to keep our Home clean, and germ free.

All parcels and post and anything being brought into the building is cleaned.

We are extremely proud of everything we are managing to achieve by all working together as a team, despite it being such a difficult situation.

Thank you for your ongoing support and prayers.

Today's notice from St.John's couldn't give a more

positive feeling, so much deep thinking and consideration

going on, circles of hope going round and around.

The residents in the best caring environment.

For the men...a little poem.....

The Headless Gardener

A gardener, Tobias Baird,

Sent his head to be repaired;

He thought as nothing much was wrong,

He wouldn't be without it long.

Ten years he's weeded path and plot,

A headless gardener, God wot,

Always hoping (hope is vain)

To see his noddle back again

Don't pity him for his distress -

He never sent up his address!

Ian Serraillier.....

Hope three heads firmly on!

Diane
